The Arc’s Board Leadership Training Institute

Friday October 11, 2019 | 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

We’re pleased to offer local and state chapter board members a new feature for 2019, The Arc’s Board Leadership Institute. Join nationally recognized nonprofit organization management expert Amy Coates Madsen, Director, Standards for Excellence Institute, Maryland Nonprofits, for a 3.5-hour interactive learning session on board excellence. The program will highlight the most important aspects of governance from both the board and board member perspective. Seating is very limited and space permits only one board member per chapter. To ensure maximum attendance, please do not register for this event unless you are committed to attending. $25/person.

NCE Awards Luncheon

Members of the National Conference of Executives of The Arc (NCE) gather and present awards that recognize chapters of The Arc for their outstanding efforts to fulfill the mission, core values, and position statements of The Arc. Awards include the Rising Star Award, Outstanding Professional Achievement Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Executive Excellence Award.  $75.00 / person

Beyond the Monuments: The Arc Improv

Sunday, October 13, 2019 | 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Following dinner on your own, join us for an evening of laughter, music, small local bites, and dancing. We’re excited to be joined by internationally known actress, comedian, writer, and disability advocate Maysoon Zayid. Guaranteed to entertain, Maysoon has performed and toured extensively both at home and abroad. Her viral TED Talk has 10 million views and counting; it was named #1 talk of 2014.

After Maysoon’s set, experience our nation’s capital beyond the monuments! DC’s own 18-year-old DJ Beauty and the Beatz has audiences hypnotized by her sound, poise, and mainstream appeal! She promises to get the crowd moving on the dance floor.

Member Rate Qualification*

In order to qualify for the member rate, you must have an active membership with an affiliated chapter of The Arc. If you receive the discounted rate and your membership is not active, and is not renewed before the event, the non-member rate will be assessed at the prevailing rate.

Employee of an Affiliated Chapter Rate Qualification**

In order to qualify for the chapter staff rate, you must be employed by an affiliated chapter of The Arc and register using your official work email address.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations may be made for a full refund, less a $25.00 processing fee, if received up to 30 calendar days prior to the start of the event. A registration may be transferred to another person any time prior to the start of the event without penalty, pending approval from The Arc. Please email all cancellation notices to with the name of attendee, company name, reason for cancellation, payment method, phone and email. The Arc reserves the right to review and refund all registration fees it deems appropriate. No refunds for no-shows.

Privacy Policy

Attendees name, title, company, and contact information will be used by The Arc to invite you to future conferences and other events. The Arc will share your contact information with a select group of conference sponsors. While in attendance, you may be recorded (including photography, video, and audio recordings). These images and recordings may be used in the future to promote The Arc’s National Convention. Any feedback you provide to The Arc in the process of registration, on-site at the event, and after the event may be used to further promote The Arc’s National Convention.
