Culturally Responsive Leadership…A Roadmap to Inclusivity for Chapters of The Arc
As leaders define the cultures of their organizations, our organizational cultures guide how we provide services and supports to people with I/DD and their families from diverse backgrounds. Join us for a conversation on the importance of being a culturally responsive workplace and the impact it can have on our constituents. Racial disparities in services for people with I/DD, personal introspection on biases and the impact on behavior, and small group work will all covered. Attendees will develop and leave with a plan for change that can be taken back and implemented in their organizations. This session will be lead by:
Dr. Arie Nettles, Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Division of Developmental Medicine; Director, Office of Inclusion and Health Equity (OIHE), Department of Pediatrics and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital
Dr. Donna Ford, Professor of Education and Human Development, Vanderbilt University
