Richard LaVallo is the Legal Director of Disability Rights Texas. Mr. LaVallo has worked for Disability Rights Texas (DRTx), the protection and advocacy system for the State of Texas, for over twenty years. He has zealously represented persons with disabilities in a wide range of individual and systemic cases. He has worked on numerous legislative and public policy issues dealing with education, mental health, foster care and juvenile justice. Mr. LaVallo has also represented person with disabilities in guardianship proceedings. Recently, he has been a member of the Guardianship and Supported Decision-Making Work Group which consists of a coalition of groups representing persons with disabilities, seniors and the legal community and has provided technical assistance for these guardianship reforms.
