For about 10 years, Martha Robles Escarraga has been working as a Project Director for Fundown Caribe, a non-profit foundation that promotes the inclusion of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia. Her experience has focused on the development of projects to support families, self-advocates, and mainly people with intellectual disability. Working at Fundown Caribe has allowed her to organize and participate in multiple national and International seminars and congresses related with topics such as inclusion, inclusive education and family guidance. She has accomplished projects training teachers at schools, Community Based Rehabilitation programs and participated in the construction of the families training model for the Colombian Nacional program of early childhood inclusion. Martha has developed several awareness campaigns to promote inclusion and break down myths about people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities in Colombia.
